The Flir FX doesn't have the same clarity in ambient daylight, but still produces excellent video. In nighttime video tests, the Flir FX was a close second behind our top performer, Belkin NetCam HD+, though its video clarity weakened beyond 10 feet. Setting up Flir FX is unusual, as it doesn't work until its batteries, one in the camera and one in its base, charge for at least 30 minutes. However, no other security camera in our review has a battery backup. We didn't like that the mobile app makes you hunt for the button to view video, which isn't as convenient as putting it on the main screen when the app opens. The app has custom alerts, though it doesn't let you schedule recording or connect it to a smart home. The Flir FX has both local and cloud storage options. With local storage, you can use a microSD card up 64GB. The Flir FX has a unique feature, called RapidRecap, which edits numerous hours' worth of footage into a short summary. It also has a one year warranty, though Nest and Belkin both offer two year warranties. Read the full reviewExcellent Daytime VideoNetgear Arlo Q$133.

Even if you are only leaving your home for a short time, the habit of locking all entries is one that can save you from the horrible experience of a break in. Outside lighting can be just as effective at deterring burglars as expensive security systems. You should ensure that your doors are kept well lit at all times. When an intruder sees that invading your home will put him or her in the spotlight, they probably will not bother with your property. Outdoor lighting systems are only effective when they are in good repair, though, so make sure you change light bulbs when necessary and test them periodically. One of the best methods of stopping the threat of burglary is to be a good neighbor.

Once the mount is secure and the wires are attached, you just lock the device onto the mount and put one screw into the bottom. For those of you who had experience with the older SkyBell models like me and hated the insanely small annoying screw under the bottom, this has been addressed and is finally nice and easy to install. Setup with the app was much faster and worked the FIRST time in both cases. I would say the longest part is the 5 or so minutes it has to charge the internal battery, after that it only takes a minute or two to get it all setup and configured. The LED lights are extremely helpful in knowing what the device is doing during setup along the way. It comes with a little card showing all the possible light combinations in the box. Weather/ReliabilityMy SkyBell HD has been through the rainy season and I can tell you now that the water had no effect on my device, seems great no matter what the weather was. Occasionally a very windy day will trigger the motion on the SkyBell if the tree in front of my camera is really moving, but it is unusual. Motion DetectionRegarding motion detection I have many comments on this but I will try to keep it on point. I have reached out to SkyBell a couple times on this for assistance and they have been awesome to explain how the motion detection works and why I have experienced certain things happening. My SkyBell device sits in a location that will not be able to see the person until they are practically right on top of it which makes things very tricky for motion detection compared to a standard porch where it can see someone approaching.
